What is BeeSage?

Intelligent system for data-driven beekeeping.

Our beehive monitoring system helps beekeepers take care of their colonies by eliminating risks and enabling informed decisions. Smart beehive scales is the first product we launched but we are also looking to implement multiple other sensors and make it possible to turn any beehive into a smart hive. All the captured data is conveniently displayed within one dashboard in our web app.

How do we use sensors in beehives?

Brood Temperature

Helps to indicate broodless state, preparations of swarming, and an absent or non-laying queen.

Hive Humidity

Helps to indicate the strength of a colony, nectar flow, and a need for increased hive ventilation, hence, avoiding condensation.

Sound

We’re researching sound measurements in hives to provide alerts about swarming, diseases and other distress factors in the future.

Weight

Gives accurate information of honey production and indicates the strength of the colony, while also maximising nectar flow.

Movement

Receive an alert if the hive is moved or knocked over.

Theft-alert

Receive an alert and exact location if the hive has been stolen. Optional add-on.

Our team

It all started serendipitously at LMT IoT hackathon in February 2020 where we created the first prototype. After winning the event we decided to take it seriously and have been working on multiple products, which will together make the full beehive monitoring system by BeeSage.
